Born as Hanna Ilona Emilia Staël von Holstein, but known as the artist Hansi Staël (1913 0 1961), she became a renowned Hungarian artist. Secla Portugal was an artistic pottery workshop established in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal in 1947. The factory benefited from the post-war economic growth in Europe, with most pieces exported to USA and UK. In the 1950s the company opened a pottery studio, where designers experimented with new forms and techniques.
