Shoolbred Leather Chaise Longue

  • H: 76 cm (29 15/16")
  • W: 200 cm (78 3/4")
  • D: 67 cm (26 3/8")

Victorian chaise longue, manufactured by and stamped Shoolbred.

This supremely elegant chaise has a raised drop-arm to one end with a scrolling back. It rests on original squat and boldly turned legs with original Shoolbred castors.

This piece has been newly upholstered in a deep buttoned and studded soft Italian Castagna leather.

James Shoolbred & Co was established in the 1820s, initially as a draper's shop, on Tottenham Court Road in London. By the 1880s, it had expanded to become one of the largest department stores in the city and its name is synonymous with the finest Victorian furniture.

Sadly, the company - along with so many other manufacturers - didn't survive the financial crash of the 1920s and ceased trading in 1931. Its name lives on in iconic pieces such as this luxurious chaise.

The perfect furnishing for a living area or home office.
