Small 18th Century George III English Mahogany Sofa
18th Century English Hepplewhite Period Mahogany Camel Back Sofa, c.1785.
This lovely piece of furniture is typical of the elegance of the Hepplewhite period. The back of the settee, with its central "hump" design, is known as a camel back. The curving lines of the back are echoed in the serpentine front rail. It has six legs with moulded detailing and the front legs have additional carved work.
The castors on the front legs are original. A good example of an English sofa from this period when seat furniture was particularly elegant and refined in its design.
Upholstered to an under finish.
