19th Century Anglo- Indian Centre Table
19th Century Anglo- Indian freestanding Padouk centre/library table.
This stunning table has wonderful detailing throughout. Padouk is a tropical hardwood, found in the Andaman Islands, South East Asia and Burma.
It has a lovely rich patina to it which, combined with the carved detail, brings texture and depth to an interior.
Anglo- Indian furniture refers to pieces made in India between 1858 and 1947 for aristocratic Indians and English colonial administrators in India.
This table features a gadrooned edge above a panelled frieze with carved scroll brackets.
The base has elaborately carved scroll end supports and reeded shaped feet, joined by an arched stretcher. Raised on brass castors.
