19th Century Deep Gold Ochre Confit Pot
SKU
DA3420497
Decorative French country confit pot, from Provence, in a deep gold ochre glaze.
The confits pots are beautiful to display anywhere in your home.
Traditional vessels made of earthenware such as this were once used daily in France for preserving food. Confit means “to preserve”; the glazed pots were used for storing cooked meats buried in the ground to preserve cooked meat without refrigeration, primarily for dishes like cassoulet or foie gras.
This pot is in great condition for its age and shall continue to age beautifully with use.
