Large Indian Water Carrier
Stunning late 19th Century Indian water carrier.
Indian water carriers were extremely popular during the 19th Century. They were used to collect water from a source which was transported to people's homes.
After the developments within pipe networks, the profession of water carriers disappeared.
This particular water carrier is very decorative.
It is believed to have been originally gifted as a wedding present. This can be depicted from the painted decoration which shows a wonderful Indian couple in their wedding attire.
A beautiful piece that will look great within classic and contemporary interiors alike!
