19th Century French Drapers Table

Beautiful French drapers table, circa 1890. 

This painted draper's table is of substantial size, having two frieze drawers and supported by carved legs.  

Originally, the top of this table would have been used as a large surface area for the cutting of cloth and the drawers to the frieze would have provided space for the cutting tools.

The under tier near the floor level would be used for storage of cloth etc.

These tables make very good serving tables and have also proved very effective and attractive as island units in the kitchen.
