18th Century Large Scale Painting by Vittorio Raineri
A stunning large-scale painting by Vittorio Raineri (1797 - 1869).
This a tempera on canvas painting presented in a decorated frame, depicting a fantasy landscapes of European game birds around a central stream with soft foliage.
The scientific interest in ornithological research led to a movement of reproduction in decorative settings that helped to amplify the interest in Chinoiserie's works in Europe. Carlo Antonio and his son Vittorio Raineri led the movement in Italy, this work of substantial size would have once formed part of a larger boiserie but would have been remounted in its current form in the mid-1900s.
In excellent condition for its age and will continue to age beautifully with admiration.
