Large-scale work attributed to Vittorio Raineri (1797 - 1869).
Tempera on canvas is presented in a decorated frame, depicting a fantasy landscape of exotic birds around a central stream with soft foliage.
The scientific interest in ornithological research led to a movement of reproduction in decorative settings that helped to amplify the interest in Chinoiserie's works in Europe.
Carlo Antonio and his son Vittorio Raineri led the movement in Italy, this piece of substantial size would have once formed part of a larger boiserie but would have been remounted in its current form in the mid-1900s.
