A late 19th Century Thonet bentwood and cane rocking chair.
This truly stunning piece features the beautiful craftsmanship of bentwood furniture, with not a straight line in sight.
Michael Thonet was a German- Austrian cabinet maker who invented bentwood furniture.
The highly curvaceous forms seen on this rocking chair are achieved by soaking wood before manipulating it into the desired shapes.
A wonderful piece of furniture history which would look striking in any interior.
