19th Century Steel and Brass Trivet

  • H: 68 cm (26 3/4")
  • W: 122 cm (49")
  • D: 37 cm (14 9/16")

Decorative English 19th Century steel and brass trivet.

With a particularly pretty pierced brass plate and turned brass supports.

Metal trivets were brought to England by the industrial revolution and they soon became a country house staple. They were used for a range of domestic tasks, such as keeping a kettle or dishes warm by the fire.

This trivet might be used for its original purpose in today's home or repurposed - perhaps even as a plant stand. Either way, this is a lovely traditional piece.
