19th Century Regency Centre Table
A 19th Century amboyna and rosewood Regency tilt top centre table, circa 1820.
This stunning table is very elegant, with an amboyna top and very finely figured panel.
Placed upon a hexagonal central support column which is attached to a tri form base. Deeply carved and very fine scroll paw feet on brass castors.
The Regency period saw the production of lots of tables, for a range of specific purposes. The tripod base and circular top of this piece makes it a very classic example of Regency furniture.
Regency England technically refers to the period when George IV served on behalf of his father as Prince Regent, between 1811-1820.
This table dates to the final year of his reign as Prince Regent, but the style and character associated with Regency is generally considered to incorporate the first 30 years of the 19th Century.
