Striking pair of inlaid mahogany Arts & Crafts chairs designed by George Montague Ellwood for J S Henry.
George Montague Ellwood was a fantastic artist and interior decorator during the mid to late 19th Century. Ellwood lived in London and exhibited at a number of venues between 1899 and 1915, including four times at the Royal Academy.
Many of George's pieces were retailed through Parisian sales because of their stylish design and his popularity throughout France.
These chairs are of great scale and will make for an eye-catching design focal point within any setting.
Please note that these chairs do show signs of wear to the cane, commensurate with age and use!
