A finely painted Venetian scene showing Palazzo Ducale and Piazza San Marco in its original frame using a soft, subtle, elegant palette.
Signed with H. Carnier, a signature that the landscape and architectural painter Karl Kaufmann (1843-1901) frequently used for his works.
Karl Kaufmann was a student of the Vienna Academy, with numerous study trips taking him to Italy where he favoured Venetian architecture.
