Late 19th Century Glazed Cabinet
Late 19th Century glazed cabinet of slim proportions.
The glazed cabinet has curved glazed panels to the sides and is fitted with two (non adjustable) shelves with the base fitted with a cupboard enclosed by a panelled door. The proportions are very unusual as the cabinet is very tall, approx 8’8” high with a depth of approx 10” making it very narrow.
The construction is fairly standard/ basic and with the proportions being what they are, there is a strong possibility that this was a specially commissioned piece, provincial in origin, possibly from a carpenter/ cabinet maker in the local town. The glazing is of Late 19th Century origin.
A most unusual cabinet overall in its proportions. It has not been cut down, i.e. reduced in depth, so is believed to be a specially commissioned piece made in the provinces.
