Louis XVI Style Enfilade Bistro Buffet
Beautifully made 19th Century Louis XVI style cabinet, bought in Paris.
This piece was originally used as a serving buffet in a bar restaurant. Featuring four large drawers with three cupboards underneath, the top is a very heavy-shaped white and buff coloured marble.
All are made in mahogany and oak with hand-carved details with a soft black (later) painted finish. The mirrored upstand at the back retains the original glass panels with some heavily foxed areas.
Commercially used cabinets of this type often had mirrored back panels, so when the waiter or waitress was preparing food or drinks, they could still see the customers while their back was turned.
