Smart pair of English 19th Century beech bergère caned elbow armchairs.

These attractive chairs feature elegant undulating top rails and high enclosed armrests. 

The generous seats rest over scalloped aprons and sabre legs with pad feet. 

With caned panels to the sides, back and seat. Lovely colour and patina throughout. 

Retaining a plaque for Stair & Andrew of Soho Square, London.  

Stair & Andrew was established in 1911 in London and in New York in 1914. The company was founded by Arthur Stair, an architect, and Valentine Andrew. 

They became known as a very prolific antiques dealership, changing ownership in 1968 and then again in 1980. 

This elegant pair will look wonderful in any interior scheme.
