Pair of 1950s Leather Club Chairs
A handsome pair of French leather club chairs with lovely large studded detail.
Club chairs were immersed in interior décor both in France and England since their conception in the early 20th Century.
In both countries they were firm fixtures in gentleman's clubs, but were eventually used in a more widespread sense by both males and females.
England and France influenced each other's models, with the French chairs becoming less rounded and more well proportioned over decades.
These chairs are very deep seated and were originally called the 'fauteil confortable,' or comfortable armchair.
Original upholstered seat cushions.
