Pair of Heal's Recliner Armchairs
Pair of Heals Arts & Crafts recliner armchairs. Circa 1910.
This fantastic pair are in English natural oak, with a dry finish.
Dating to the end of the Arts & Crafts heyday, they exhibit the classic rectilinear forms favoured by practitioners.
With scalloped aprons to each side, shaped uprights, and subtly undulating armrests.
These chairs fold out into daybeds with footrests, and also fold out fully horizontal.
They have been re-upholstered with fitted tartan cushions and terminate on square block feet.
Heals were a prolific furniture store in the 20th Century, with a focus on producing furniture that was aesthetically pleasing, useful, and sold at an accessible price point.
They were a hugely important company for the commercial availabilty of Arts & Crafts, bringing business efficiency to the design and manufacture process.
Their furniture has timeless and classic appeal, with their pieces looking equally at home in today's interiors as they did in the 20th Century consumer's home.
