Pair of Swedish Painted Bookcases
Pair of Swedish broken pediment bookcases, in painted pine.
Although these bookcases embody the Gustavian style, they were made in the 1950s to adorn the library of a Swedish castle and match a similar antique pair.
The top half of each is fitted with adjustable shelves and foxed mirrored glazing panels, with locks and keys. The top edge features dental moulding topped with a classical broken pediment.
The lower half of each takes the form of a chest of drawers with canted corners. With three drawers and brass hardware.
These bookcases are supported on square tapering feet, with reeded decoration. Reeded full height columns also adorn both sections.
These attractive bookcases are finished in a gently worn green/grey paint.
