19th Century Artist's Easel by G. Gent of Bayswater
Wonderful 19th Century artist's easel by G. Gent of Bayswater, London.
This easel has a back and forth tilt adjustment, and its height can be changed from 190cm to a maximum of 250cm. Operated by two separate winding mechanisms which are still functional.
This easel was originally used by the painter Arthur Spooner (1873-1962). Spooner trained at the Nottingham School of Art, which is now part of Nottingham Trent University. He later taught painting there in the early 20th Century. He is most famous for painting The Goose Fair, Nottingham in 1926.
This easel is on wheels and can be folded up for ease of transportation and storage. It is in its original, untouched condition.
This is a wonderful piece with great provenance and decorative appeal.
