  • H: 205 cm (80 11/16")
  • W: 137 cm (53 15/16")

Swedish flatweave rug designed by Judith Johansson, circa 1955.

Johansson was one of the legendary Swedish rug designers. She was born in 1916 in southern Sweden and lived in a small rural region that was renowned for its natural beauty as well as its crafting and textile heritage.

The inspiration Judith drew from the stunning Scandinavian natural environment she was exposed to is clear in her designs, combined with geometric patterning.

She would first express her designs in watercolour sketches, before transferring them into woven patterns in her private aetelier which she ran from the late 1940s until the mid 1960s.

This rug was originally used for 'Meditation' purposes and is sure to bestow a calming effect on a room.
