Two 18th Century Faience Tureens

  • H: 21 cm (8 1/4")
  • W: 39 cm (15 3/8")
  • D: 21 cm (8 1/4")

Two 18th Century white glazed tureens with lids.

The three leg tureens had more stability than four leg ones.

One base and one lid have suffered the hardships of time and use, but historic rivetting has enabled them to survive.

Faience refers to all porous ware which has been covered with a glaze, in this case a fine white cover.

This pair are beautifully shaped with decorative finials to the top of each one. A joy to behold.
