18th Century Caddy Top Georgian Blanket Chest

Solid mahogany Georgian blanket chest with caddy top. Circa 1780. 

This chest has elegant proportions and exhibits the straight-lined refinement of the later Georgian period. 

Raised on carved bracket feet, with brass hardware including handles to each side and a decorative escutcheon to the front. 

This chest has lovely patina; a reminder of the golden age of mahogany for cabinet-making. 

Today, it would look wonderful at the foot of the bed used for its original purpose of storing blankets and linens or for other possessions.
